What causes TMJ?
The small, triangular joints that allow you to open and close your jaw are the temporomandibular joints, or TMJ. Your jaw joints work in conjunction with nearby nerves and muscles to give you a full range of motion. Stress, fatigue, or injury can cause misalignment of these joints. When the TMJ are out of sync, the associated muscles and nerves have to work harder, which causes irritation and pain.

What are my treatment options?
Non-surgical TMJ therapy and headache treatment may include tips for stress relief, hot and cold therapy to alleviate discomfort, strengthening exercises, or an NTI-tss oral appliance that keeps your bite in the correct position. A small, nearly invisible plastic device, patients wear the NTI-tss over their front teeth while they sleep. The NTI-tss keeps you from clenching and grinding your teeth, giving you the relief and headache treatment you need.
